GENERAL INFORMATION
the Koda (Ehretia acuminata) has a very long history of life on Earth. Fossil evidence suggests that the plant originated in Africa and spread to Australia and South America when these continents were still joined as a single land mass.It grows up the east coast of Australia and has become a native and is commonly known to be a great Aussie Bush tucker fruit.
The tree grows to a medium size which is perfect for back yards and when it flowers the tree gets covered in beautiful sprays of white hanging flowers which then turn into small yellow / orange fruits which can be eaten and are nice and sweet.
They are also a great tree to have in your yard if you want to attract butterflies and birds such as Lewin’s honeyeater, the wompoo fruit dove and figbird as well as being a food plant for several butterflies.
